I’ve always enjoyed darker
beers wither they are a dunkle, Belgian dubbel, Stout, brown ale or Porter. They
are some I enjoy. This dark beer is a Porter, Bell’s Porter, 5.6% ABV. Bell’s
Brewery is in Com stock Michigan. I have not had much of Bell’s beer jut two
others. Bell’s Porter pours a deep dark black color with a three finger beige
head that stays and from great wispy lacing round the side of the glass. I
found no light coming through the glass due to the dark color of this porter,
and I found not very much of carbonation bubbles either. The aroma on Bell’s
Porter is big with a little rich chocolate and roasted malt notes. The taste is bold with a rich chocolate flavor
that a little sweetness to it, and I did find it to have a nice amount of roasted
grains. These flavors really hit you pallet. The roast flavor notes are smooth
as is the rest of this Bell’s Porter. The mouth feel is medium to barley heavy.
Bell’s Porter finishes smooth and rich with big roasted chocolate. The after taste
is more roasted flavors with a little less chocolate and not very much
bitterness. This is a smooth yet rich porter. I would definitely give this an A.
This is just a simple porter style beer. I really enjoyed this and would do so
again. If you haven’t tried this, Bell’s Porter then go a do so and see what
you think of it. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Kona Brewing Co. Aloha Series Pipeline Porter
Aloha! One ingredient used in
beer that is enjoyed with or with being brewed into a beer is coffee beans.
Coffee beans are used in IPA’s, Stouts, and Porters. The roasted taste of the
beans goes well with the roasted malts use in most dark beers. But using them in
IPA’s is a new thing and not used so much. This beer Kona Brewing Co.’s Aloha
Series Pipeline Porter 5.4% ABV comes all the way from Kona, Hawaii. Pipeline
uses one hundred percent Hawaiian Kona Coffee. Pipeline Porter pours a deep and
rich black color with a three finger rocky beige head that stays very well and
leave nice whiffs of lace behind. I found no light coming through the glass and
very little amounts of carbonation bubbles due to the dark color. The aroma on
this porter is like freshly roasted dark coffee beans and hints of dark malts.
The taste on Pipeline Porter is rich a roasted with hints of semi sweetness
that is a big chocolate flavor. I found the tiniest hint of bitterness but one
it come it then went away. There is a hint of roasted malts there as well. This
Kona Porter, taste like a nice cup of coffee with a hint of sweetness. The
mouth feel is medium to almost heavy and is smooth to drink. Pipeline finishes bit
roasty with hints of sweetness, and has a semi roasted coffee aftertaste. I
enjoyed this Pipeline Porter. It does not over power you with coffee or roasted
flavors and isn’t the slightest bitter from the coffee. So Kona Brewing Co.’s
Aloha Series Pipeline Porter get an A here. I would defiantly have this Porter
again. I recommend that you try this too if you have not yet. Cheers and mahalo!
Please enjoy responsibly!

Blue Moon Rounder Belgian-Style Pale
In the 1940s Belgian-Style
Pale Ales grew in popularity and were ordered by the round due to their
balanced taste. This is Blue Moon’s take on Belgian-Style Pale Ale. This is
Rounder, 5.6% ABV. Rounder is a sessionable ale with hibiscus and orange peel for
spiciness and touch wheat for a smoother, round taste, according to the back
label. Rounder pour a deeper copper color, with a three finger off white head
that stick around and forms some nice lacing around the glass. There is nice,
but small amounts of light coming through the glass, with nice amounts of
carbonation bubbles. The aroma on Rounder is earth with a grassy yet hoppy
scent. The taste is big with an orange juice like flavor that seems to mask
most of the other flavor that are said to be in this beer. But I did find a
light and faint spicy bitterness on the back. The mouth feel is medium, and
Rounder finish somewhat sweet and tiny bit bitter. The after taste is orangey
with hint of bitterness. Over all this isn’t a bad beer. Rounder is okay, so it
gets a C+. The big orange flavor seems to be the dominant flavor to this and
nothing else seem to come through. I am not saying that Rounder is a bad beer.
I’ve just have had much better Belgian-Style Pale Ales, and is this worst no,
it’s average. I would have this again. So please go and giver Blue Moon Rounder
Belgian-Style Pale a try and see what you think of it. Cheers! Please enjoy
responsibly!

Green Flash Brewing Co. Saison Diego
In the last few months, I have
really gotten into the Saison or Farmhouse ale style of beer. It is an
interesting yet complex Belgian beer style. This is traditional
sturdy farmhouse ale that is brewed in the winter, to be consumed in the summer months. This Saison here is Green Flash Brewing Co. Saison Diego, 4.2% ABV.
Green Flash is from San Diego California. Saison Diego pours a hazy lemon yellow color
with a massive five-finger fluffy white head that dissipates kind of slowly.
There is some little amount of light coming through the glass with a nice
amount of carbonation bubbles racing up from the bottom. The aroma on Saison
Diego is a bit dank with hints of earthy lemon and peppery spice. The taste on Saison
Diego is big with dankness first and with a little tart semi-sweet fruit (lemon-like). There is a pepper spice note too. I also found a bit of a yeast flavor
around the peppery spice. On the end, there is a very faint bitterness. This is
a bold and complex flavored beer. The mouthfeel is medium with a tart finish.
The fruity spiced aftertaste does linger for a bit a right before it gone
there is a faint tartness. Overall this is a great beer. Saison Diego gets an
A here. This is a really great beer with lots of good stuff going with it. Saison
Diego is also easy to drink. So please go out and try Saison Diego if you haven’t
already and see how you like it! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!

Unibroue La Fin Du Monde
The Belgians are one of the
best brewers of beer in the world. They grew some the best beer styles, and
they have world-class breweries. But when you think of Belgian style beer you
don’t think of Canada. But one of the best Belgian style breweries is in Chambly
Québec Canada, Unibroue. This is their Belgian Triple La Fin Du Monde, 9.0%
ABV. Which translates to the end of the world. A Belgian Triple is made with
three types of yeast, hence the name triple. La Fin Du Monde pours an orange
color with a fizzy one and a half finger white head that fizzes kind of slowly.
There is tons of carbonation bubbles here and this beer is very effervescent. I
found very low amounts of light coming through the goblet. The aroma is big
with yeast bread with a hint of a faint biscuit scent. I also found there to be
a slight fruity aroma that was somewhat crisp like maybe an apple. The taste on
Triple La Fin Du Monde is nice, and has a slight spicy sweet taste up front
then a yeast taste towards the middle. There is crisp Champagne grape flavor as
well, yet I do find a tart apple taste here as well that goes well with the
Champagne grape. The mouth feel is medium with a nice slightly boozy yet crisp
sweet finish, that leads into a nice aftertaste that is slightly spicy yeasty
and semi fruity. This is a world-class beer from a world-class brewery. So I am
giving this A. Triple La Fin Du Monde is a well-balanced and well-crafted
Triple. This is one of my favorite beers and styles. If you haven’t had Triple
La Fin Du Monde or any Unibroue beers, then go and try this and all of their
other beers. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
