I have to give credit where
credit is do, Germans brew great beer time and time again, over and over again.
Here we have Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Aventinus, a wheat doppelbock ale at 8.2%
ABV. This brewer specializes in Weisse beer (wheat beers) and has been doing
this since 1872. Aventinus pours dark
reddish, murky brown color with a big fluffy four finger tan cascading head. I
saw no light coming though or much carbonation. The aroma on Aventinus is a
very faint wheat scent with big dark fruits such as plums and raisins. There is
also a malted little malted aroma lingering around under all the dark fruits.
The taste on this is a tiny wheat flavor with big plums and raisins wrapped in
a nice malted note that really hits the taste buds. The mouth feel is somewhat
light even for a dark beer, which is nice. The finish on Aventinus is a tiny
bit bitter, but that is not a bad thing, and it does fade rather quickly. The
aftertaste on Schneider Aventinus is nice and malted with lighter flavors of
dark fruits. This beer is an A beer for sure. A great dark wheat style beer
done right, like it supposed to be made. This isn’t a heavy beer at all, and does
not stick to you after words. I really recommend this to anyone who likes
German beer, wheat ales, or even dark beer. So head on over to Mike’s Discount
Beverage’s 4700 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28209 and pick this up today, $6.99 for
a single pint. It’s a great one! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
