Black Boss Porter

Well it’s that time of year when all of us beer geeks drink darker beers, and this is one of them. This is Black Boss Porter, 9.4% ABV. This is a Baltic porter. Baltic porters are similar to Imperial stouts, in that they are made for the Baltic States (countries). That just means they have more ingredients and a higher ABV to make the long trip from England. Now this isn’t an English beer, it hales from Poland. Most porters originated in London England, but now they can be found most anywhere. Black Boss is brewed by Browar Witnica S.A. and has been doing this since 1845. Black Boss pours a deep dark brown almost black color with a big pillowy tan three to four finger creamy head that slowly fades. The head looks a lot like coffee ice cream. There is plenty of great tan lacing on the glass, but not a lot of carbonation or light coming though. The aroma is nice with a big roasted, smoky malted coffee. There is a very faint hint of chocolate there. The taste on Black Boss is a big roasted malt with I nice slight smokiness as well, and you don’t really taste the 9.4% ABV much. This has a slight creamy taste too. The mouth feel is medium-full, silky and creamy. Black Boss has a good finish that doesn’t have a slight bitterness like some Baltic porters might. It’s after taste is sweet semi smoky with nice roasted malt that lingers a bit on your palate. This is defiantly A+ beer. I was thinking this was going to be good but a lot more of a bigger beer than it actually was. I do highly recommend this to any dark beer or porter lover. So please come on over to Mike’s Discount Beverage’s for this, and for all your fine wine and beer! Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
