Wicked Weed Brewing Genesis Blonde Sour Ale

Yes I know some of you have heard that InBev (Anheuser-Busch) recently bought Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, North Carolina. Some stores aren’t carrying Wicked Weed for that very reason, I think that is just stupid, I mean why would stop carrying beer, popular beer, just cause you or the craft beer drinkers don’t agree with the sale nor do you like that it's been sold to big brewing corporation. . If it sells then keep it on the store shelves. I find Wicked Weed to be a great brewery that brews fantastic beers. I was given Wicked Weed Brewing Genesis Blonde Sour Ale, 6.6% ABV. This is blonde sour ale is their flagship blonde sour which is fermented with tropical fruits, a pound per gallon of pineapple, guava, papaya and mango, the beer is then aged in white wine barrels and blended to accentuate the wild and tropical nature of the yeast and fruit.  Genesis Blonde Sour pours a slightly hazy bright almost neon yellow color with almost no head, it fizzled away rather quickly. Aroma is pleasantly sweet with pineapple, some guava, slightly mango and papaya. Taste is tart up front with sweet tropical fruits in the middle, pineapple, guava, papaya and mango. It is more tart and sour on the back and even more so as the beer warms. The wine barrel really brings out the tropical fruits in Genesis, and adds a little sweetness to the tartness. The mouth feel is medium with a touch of fullness in the back of the mouth. Genesis Blonde Sour Ale finishes nice with some refreshing qualities and a nice tropical flavor that is similar to the after taste which is tart refreshing and yes tropical fruity. I don’t care who bought Wicked Weed Brewing, I think the beer is still good, and Genesis Blonde Sour Ale gets an A. Well crafted, well balanced and tasty. Something I highly recommend, but just understand that a pint of Wicked Weed beer is generally  more expensive than most pints of beer, they are usually 8 – 15 dollars a pint depending on which beer you are buying, but it’s totally worth the price! Cheers! Please enjoy responsiably!
