Coronado Brewing Co. Punk'in Drublic Ale Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices

I am not a huge fan of pumpkin beers or pretty much anything pumpkin/pumpkin spice, I do like pumpkin pie okay. I do however give pumpkin beers their fair shake. Coronado Brewing Co. from Coronado California, an island across the bay from San Diego, brews Punk’in Drublic Ale Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices, 8.0% ABV. Punk’in Drublic is an imperial pumpkin ale brewed with brown sugar, honey cinnamon, allspice, and of course pumpkin. Punk’in Drublic pours a dark ruby orange color with a one finger fizzy head that goes as soon at it arrives. The aroma is sweet with pumpkin and some spice like touches of cinnamon and sugar. Taste is huge pumpkin up front walloping you on the taste buds. The flavor of the pumpkin does settle a bit towards the back of the mouth and you get slight cinnamon and some faint nutmeg with hints of very faint brown sugar with a bit of a warming form the alcohol. I think there is too much pumpkin flavor up front. The mouth feel is on the higher side of medium and Punk’in Drublic finishes cloying with an alcohol-warming feel. The after taste is cloying as well but with very much less pumpkin and lots of spices. Like I stated before I am not a fan of pumpkin but this is tolerable, with that said I give Coronado Brewing Co. Punk’in Drublic a C-. If the pumpkin flavor that hits you tongue up front wasn’t as intense it might be more pleasant. I don’t have pumpkin beers again, so not again for this one. Cheers! Please enjoy responsibly!
